Andrew A. Shannon, RA

Architect, Construction Manager

Andrew Shannon is the primary architect for Tomorrow’s Builder. His long and distinguished career started 28 years ago upon graduation from the University of Tennessee in 1986 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He is a registered architect with the State of Tennessee and Florida.

Career

From 1987 to 1996, he worked with the State of Tennessee Military Department, becoming fully responsible for the design and construction oversight for multi-million-dollar National Guard projects. In 1996, he started his own architectural and construction management firm. He completed many commercial projects and simultaneously managed as many as five high-end residential building projects. In 2001, he joined Construction Planners and worked with David Johnson to offer full design and construction services in the industrial and commercial sector.

Talents

Andy is a gifted designer with a broad knowledge of all aspects of building design. He has original ideas and the ability to visualize the completed project very early in the design process. Clients appreciate his ability to explore building options and present ideas quickly. His thoroughness during the detailed design phase keeps changes and unexpected costs to a minimum.

Role

Andy has extensive hands-on field experience and effectively manages all aspects on a job site. For that reason, he is heavily involved in Tomorrow’s Builder jobsite supervision and in assuring that each task is completed correctly. Many times he is as knowledgeable about a specific task as the trade contractor specializing in the task. His attention to detail and his knowledge of every aspect of construction detail sets him apart from other industry professionals. Andy assures that the plan is implemented efficiently and effectively.

Accolades

Andy’s versatility is proven. In a recent three-year renovation project at Monterey Mushrooms in Loudon, TN, he was the original architect of record and then subsequently assumed the role of job superintendent. The project required daily coordination between the construction trades and Monterey Mushrooms to assure production needs were met. Complex phasing of the project and ongoing adjustments to the scope complicated the project further. Andy was able to maintain the strict production needs of the client and keep the project on schedule.
